Answers to Some Visitor Questions

Q: How long do PUMC's worship services last?
A: Morning worship services are at 8:15 am, 9:30 am and 11:00 am.  With some exceptions, worship services last about an hour.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Be comfortable. Dress in your casual clothes or in your "Sunday best" for any of our worship services.

Q: Are my children welcome in worship?
A: At PUMC, children of all ages are warmly welcomed at worship. We believe that worship is for everyone. If your children attend worship with you, don't fret if they should decide to be noticed! We love having children in our worship services. If you would like, the following are also available to your children during worship….

  • For interested children, we offer activity sheets for your children to pick up when they come into church. These sheets are also called "Sunday bulletins for kids". These bulletins are located in acrylic bins on the tower in the narthex (aka the "lobby").
  • We realize that sometimes children get restless during worship. We offer a 'cry room' or 'quiet room' at the rear of the sanctuary, complete with comfortable rocking chairs, where parents can see and hear the worship service.  We also have a professionally staffed nursery for children ages two and under at each service.
  • Sunday school is offered for children of all ages during the 9:30 am service, and Children's Worship LIve! is offered at the 11:00 worship services for ages K - 5th grades.  Sunday School is offered for ages 2 - PreK at the 11:00 service, as well.

    Q: Is PUMC handicapped accessible?
    A. Yes. PUMC's building is wheelchair accessible. We also have hearing assist devices for your use, and we have large print bulletins and hymnals. Please ask an usher so that he or she may assist you.

Q: I know that many churches take a collection during worship. As a visitor, am I expected to give money?
A: No. We want you to be our guest, and we invite you to draw close to God during your worship experiences with us.

Q: When do you celebrate communion?
A: PUMC celebrates communion at each of its three services on the first Sunday of each month. PUMC also celebrates communion at some special services during the church year. See the Worship section of this website for any announements about special services.

    Q: Can visitors take communion?
A: Yes. Everyone is invited to take communion at PUMC. You do not need to be a member of this church.
