Open to all students 7th grade and above who have not already been confirmed. Students explore the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of The United Methodist Church, and the meaning of the baptismal and membership vows.
The Confirmation journey begins with Confirmation Kick-Off on Friday, September 8, 5:45-9pm. The beginning of kick-off will start with a 30 minute parent meeting in the Sanctuary. Confirmation lessons are held on the second Sunday of each month with lunch being served at 12:15pm and our lesson wrapping up at 2:30pm.
FAQ
What is Confirmation? Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. After confirmation, the student is eligible to become a full member of the church. Who is invited? All students in 7th grade or above who wish to explore the meaning of Christian faith, the history and teachings of The United Methodist Church, and the meaning of the baptismal and membership vows are encouraged to participate. How long does it last? There are 8 sessions, spanning from October to April, including learning sessions, overnight retreats, serving opportunities, and worship experiences.
Are all confirmation students required to become members? No – the decision to become a member of the church is left to the student. Confirmation registration for the 2023-2024 class has closed. Contact Rev. Hannah if you have any questions.
