- Wallet Collection New and Gently Used Women’s Wallets are being collected Sep. 1–Sep. 29, 2024. Wallets provide those leaving the Ohio Reformatory for Women a safe place to hold documents and essential items to securing housing, employment and services. Visit the Mission Table in the Main Hall for more information and ways to take other actions that will make a difference in the lives of incarcerated persons and returning citizens. - Welcome Home Bags Welcome Home a Returning Citizen. A person released from prison or jail faces many challenges and often lacks essential items. During the month of February, pick up a bag at the mission table in the main hall, fill it with the personal care items listed and return it so that these essentials can be given to a re-entering citizen. Men’s items are especially needed. Individual items may be given instead of filling a bag. Contact sandyhuber@powellumc.org
- HOPE Letters is a regular mentoring correspondence with incarcerated men and women in Ohio’s state prisons. This is a signature initiative of the West Ohio Conference. Training and a year’s commitment is required. Contact sandyhuber@powellumc.org.
- Support of transitional sober living at Liberty and Unity Houses, Delaware OH. (Ministries of https://www.jacobsway.org/)
- The Drop Share Christmas joy with residents of Ohio’s prisons by sending them Christmas cards. Once you have received the cards, pray for each person, write short notes, address the envelopes, and drop the cards in the mail on appropriate date.
